| CO2 aims to literally provide opportunities
for young cineastes to screen the films exhaled by
them=carbonic anhydride (CO2). |

Today, in the
filmmaking scene, the boundaries between major and
independent, fiction and documentary, art and entertainment
have started to dissolve, providing wider opportunities
for authors of cinema.
“Cineaste” means an author of cinema. As cinema is
now going through big changes, with expectation, we
call those who have potentials to break a new ground

Since CO2 believes that the cineastes
are not just filmmaking wannabes but authors of
cinema with potentials, we call for entries and
set up an opportunity to screen their films.
After the exhibition, we support the following
processes which include attending film festivals
in and outside of Japan, screening at cinemas.
DVD release, hitting the airwaves and distribution

We have “Planning and Production Section”
and “Open Competition Section”. We select filmmakers
from those who apply for the former section and give
them a chance to make an original piece of work for
screening at the exhibition.
For production, we give them a grant of 300.000 JPY.
In addition, we have provisions of supporting them
in the process of shooting and editing. As for “Open
Competition Section”, we will screen winning films
at the exhibition and give the best film an award
of 100.000 JPY. |

Through the whole process of filmmaking
including filmmaking, screening at the exhibition
and subsequent distribution, we organize a place where
authors of cinema, cinematographers, actors, engineers
and producers can exchange information and where we
can foster staff.
Though, marginal and virtual at first, through meeting
young cineastes, we will endeavor to set up a base
to push the boundaries of cinema from Osaka. |
